UNIQUE CONDITIONS

The project was based on three main assumptions:

• The excellent climate all year round.
• A range of facilities for tourists to match the new demand.
• A need for this type of promotional and sporting facility in the south of the country, and in Europe as a whole.

The climate in the Algarve is mild, with temperate average temperatures and few days of rain every year, thus allowing the complex to be used practically 365 days a year. Such conditions are unlikely to be found in any other location in Europe.

In the rest of Europe, facilities such as these can only be used in the summer months and sometimes in the spring, with their use at other times of the year being dependent on occasional sunny days. The fact that there are approximately 320 days with no rain in the Algarve is one of the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve's big advantages, bearing in mind that in central Europe the average is 145 days without rain per year; especially when you remember that it is in the winter that all the tests in motor sport (F1, GP2, F3, DTM, FIA GT, Moto GP, SBK) take place, as well as the world presentations of production line cars and motorbikes.

This highlights even more the key advantage represented by the Algarve climate. International presentations of new cars, motorbikes and tyres to journalists and companies increasingly take place at race circuits. The reasons for this are connected with the fact that the organisers of these events are able to have journalists, business partners and guests driving in total safety instead of on public roads where they would run into obvious problems with the authorities as well as logistical problems.

When planning major events, one can foresee the need for accommodation and additional leisure activities: the Race Circuit and its events are perfectly complemented by the splendid range of leisure pursuits on offer, including golf, horse riding for both leisure and competition, and water sports.

And last but not least one must not forget the tremendous asset represented by the region's natural beauty, the beauty of its coastline, its spectacular beaches contrasting with the more rural interior, traditional and charming. It would be difficult to find surroundings that provide better conditions than the Algarve, with its outstanding hotels and casinos, always a symbol of quality for the thousands of visitors who come to the Algarve every year.
